Here are the top three stories in Reno today:
- The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, alongside the City of Reno, announced a new program that will lead to faster emergency response times at local airports. The airports will transition to a new consolidated dispatch services agreement, which took effect on Nov. 1. Officials say that these dispatch services will allow airports to contact first responders for emergencies quickly and effectively. (Press Release Desk)
- Many shelters in and around Reno are still working to find forever homes for dozens of cats, dogs, and other adorable critters coming through. Want to see if any of these pets are right for your home? Whether you're a dog or cat person, click the link to check them out. (Reno Patch)
- The Reno-Sparks area is getting a ground station for Apple’s new feature that lets you get Emergency SOS via satellite. On Thursday morning, the company announced it is investing $450 million to create a new infrastructure across America. The infrastructure will support the satellites needed to power the app, which will be part of its iPhone 14 lineup. One such ground station will be built in Sparks.
