Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- A new student-oriented shopping center, University Crossing, is coming to Reno by the end of this summer. The project, which is under contract with Tolles Development, is part of an initiative to further connect downtown with the University of Nevada, Reno. The establishment will expand current housing, entertainment, and food options for the community. It will occupy the corner of Virginia and Maple Street. (KRNV)
- The Small-Acreage Certification Program, a continuing education opportunity for agricultural professionals, will run Mar. 15 to Apr. 12 through the University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s Herds & Harvest Program. Classes will take place Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. online. To receive the Level 1 Certification, participants must complete the coursework, farm tour, and business plan review. Registration is $60 and is open here. (Nevada Today)
- Vietnam Veterans of America Sierra Nevada Chapter 989 partnered with the Home Depot Foundation to install craft storage space in Sparks' Northern Nevada State Veterans Home. The two organizations, who have partnered together in the past, converted three rooms to make the project possible. The Home Depot Foundation provided the supplies, with volunteers doing the installation. (This Is Reno)
