Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. The Reno seniors community is outraged about the possibility that the Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center could be leased to Tu Casa Latina. The organization supports immigrants in Northern Nevada. The City of Reno is considering various options for the space they believe is underutilized. Leasing the space to Tu Casa Latina could boost revenue for additional health and wellness activities for Reno seniors, according to the city. (FoxReno.com)
  2. The National Weather Service has upgraded its excessive heat watch to a heat advisory for Reno. The area's temperature will be between 100 and 105 during the Labor Day Weekend. The advisory goes into effect on Friday at 11:00 a.m. NV Energy is encouraging residents to conserve energy during the heat advisory. (Fox Reno)
  3. The Washoe County Republican Central Committee passed a resolution on Monday condemning Republicans who endorsed Democrats in the upcoming election. The committee chair, Bruce Parks, states that the committee will "no longer tolerate those that would subvert the goals and ideals of the Republican Party from within." The resolution declares that the support of Democrats by Republicans is "absolutely repugnant to Republican principals." (Reno Gazette Journal)
