- A pilot died during Sunday's Reno National Championship Air Races. The incident occurred during the event's Jet Gold Race during the third lap on pylon 5. The pilot's identity has not been released. There was no one else in the plane at the time of the crash. The incident is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board. (KCRA)
- The City of Reno is offering residents the chance to get a discounted tree. Through ReLEAF Reno and Energy-saving Trees, the City of Reno is providing a discount on 300 trees. The trees are being sold for $20 each. They will be available for pick-up on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 8:00 a.m. at Idlewood Park. Click to reserve your tree. (Press Release Desk)
- Washoe County Animal Services has launched a new licensing and lost pet tracking system. DocuPet is providing the service. The system will allow local pet owners to find their lost pets while complying with local licensing laws. Licensing is required for dogs in Washoe County. (This Is Reno)
