- The Reno Police Department's Traffic Section and four of its officers were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to traffic safety during the 2022 Nevada Traffic Safety Summit. The department's Traffic Section was awarded the title of Program of the Year for its Regional School Safety Zone Initiative, which worked to reduce student-involved crashes in Washoe County. Sergeant Alan Hollingsworth and Officers Michael Lawton, Paul Riedel, and Matthew Moore were also independently recognized for their contributions. (Press Release Desk)
- Local dentists and hygienists will provide free dental care to kids on Nov. 5 as part of the American Dental Association's Give Kids A Smile program. From 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the TMCC Dental Clinic will offer dental screenings, treatment, emergency care, and oral health education to at-risk and uninsured children under 18. Appointments are required and can be made via email or by calling 775-982-7989. (KOLO)
- The Reno Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Park Villa Apartments on Wednesday afternoon. The blaze occurred in a wall between two apartment units and was able to be contained before spreading further. One worker was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but no other injuries were reported.
