- During this year's legislative session, various bills were introduced in support of undoing the way the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) manages itself. A bill that will remove certain parts of the state constitution related to the Nevada Board of Regents is currently up for the second session of consideration within the legislature. The legislature is determined to gain more control over the NSHE in the wake of a failed ballot initiative that would have also changed NSHE's governance structure. (This Is Reno)
- On Saturday, Apr. 1, the Reno Aces celebrate opening weekend with a 15-10 win over the Las Vegas Aviators. The win comes after Ali Sanchez's four hits and Buddy Kennedy's three base knocks at the Greater Nevada Field. (Our Sports Central)
- The City of Reno officially declared on Saturday that April is National Donate Life Month. The day was commemorated at a ceremony where Donor Network West helped to turn the Reno Arch blue and green which will remain for the entire month. This initiative is meant to raise awareness for organ, eye, and tissue donation, and encourage more northern Nevadans to register as organ donors, as well as honor donors and their families. (2News)

- After a 30+ year long career, the Reno Firefighters Association is celebrating the retirement of Darren Nevada Swinney. He began his career in 1990 as a wildland firefighter and went full-time with Truckee Meadows in 1996, then eventually merged with Reno Fire Department in 2000. The department is extremely grateful for Swinney's service and hard work on Truck 1 for the last 17 years. (Reno Fire Association)
