  1. This week, the Reno Arch has turned blue in honor of National Police Week. On Monday, law enforcement agencies from northern Nevada gathered under the Arch to pay tribute to officers who have died in the line of duty. The event was focused on providing support and comfort to the families of fallen officers, with Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam emphasizing the importance of recognizing their sacrifices. This week, there are various events, vigils, and memorials scheduled to honor law enforcement; more information can be found here. (KTVN)
  2. The Reno Fire Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individual or group responsible for a series of fires that occurred on Apr. 30 and May 1. The fires, which were set intentionally, occurred at various locations throughout the city and may be linked. If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Reno Fire Department at (775) 334-2300 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 immediately. (KOLO)
  3. Washoe County Regional Animal Services is offering free microchipping for pets, a quick and easy way to help reunite lost pets with their owners. The microchipping service is available at Regional Animal Services Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Livestock owners can also get their animals microchipped for free on May 13 at the Ironwood Events Center, which can be particularly useful during natural disasters like wildfires.
