  1. Reno city officials and partners gathered at City Plaza's "Believe" sign Friday morning for their routine "City Walks." The walks along the downtown area and other neighborhoods, part of the 'Clean and Safe' program started by the city in Jan. 2020, aim to connect to the local unhoused community while also picking up trash and cleaning sidewalks. 2. Local authorities are looking for a domestic violence defendant after he failed to show up to his trial. Michael Frison, 48, was found guilty of felony domestic violence causing substantial bodily harm for breaking his girlfriend’s jaw in Sparks on Jul. 29, 2021. Frison was out on bail but did not show up to trial for closing arguments or the jury’s verdict, the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office said. The district attorney’s office said anyone who sees Frison is asked to call their local law enforcement. (KOLO)
  3. The Northern Nevada Science and Technology Festival continues today (Apr. 24) with “Monday Moon-Day” from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center. “Monday Moon-Day” is one of two free science- and technology-related events for people of all ages. Other activities throughout the week include “Art and Science Explored” at the Nevada Museum of Art, “Science of the Silver State” at the Nevada State Museum, and “Science is Everywhere” at a variety of participating locations, including the University’s College of Engineering and Innevation Center. • Friday, Apr. 21 marked the one-year anniversary of the death of Master Officer Al Del Vecchio. Al began his career with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department in 1990. His injuries, although not fatal at the time, would cause him lifelong issues that are believed to be related to his untimely death last year. (Reno Police Department via Facebook)
  • Congratulations to Elsie Childress on recently earning a tie for first place for best score for the Society for Range Management's Undergraduate Range Management Exam. It was Childress’ first time attending the annual event and taking the rigorous test, which includes questions on many aspects of range management, such as range ecology, grazing management, and range analysis. • On Saturday, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, the Bin Trash Spa, and Down to Earth Composting gathered at Jade Cannabis to clean up Midtown Reno for Earth Day. Volunteers helped clean sidewalks, sweep streets, and remove graffiti to give back to the community. (KTVN)
