Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. The Reno girls' soccer team is on top of the standings as the North 5A Regional playoffs near. The team didn't make it to playoffs last season and coach Alex Dunn says, "This is a team that comes to work every day. It’s been a team effort all year." The Huskies have a 9-3-2 overall record, putting them at the top of the list. (Subscription: Reno Gazette-Journal)
  2. One person died early yesterday morning following a shooting near the Atlantis casino. Police responded to shooting reports on S. Virginia Street, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds; the man later died on the scene. No one has been arrested, as it appears the shooting was in self-defense. (KRNV)
  3. Nevada saw its first snowfall this season, bringing chain controls to the Mount Rose Highway. The Saturday evening snowfall brought the requirement of chains on all vehicles, with the exception of 4-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires in certain areas. (KRNV)
