- The greater Reno and Carson City area is under a flood watch due to anticipated snowmelt caused by scorching temperatures. The flood watch started on Thursday evening and will last until Monday afternoon, bringing with it the potential for excessive runoff leading to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas in Reno, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and parts of eastern California. The National Weather Service in Reno predicts that the unseasonably warm temperatures will cause snowmelt and runoff from higher mountain regions to flow into lower elevation areas along the Carson River, Walker River basins, and eastern Sierra basins. - Residents of the Geiger Grade-Toll Road Area are increasingly concerned about a growing waste pile that has accumulated in their neighborhood. Initially designated for Christmas tree recycling, the site has now become a year-round dumping ground for green waste and additional items like furniture. The residents not only find it unsightly but also fear that the massive pile could pose a significant fire hazard, potentially endangering their entire community. Despite a recent warning sign and the threat of fines for illegal dumping, the residents are adamant about the urgent need for the site to be cleaned up. (KOLO)
- Renowned celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is expanding his culinary empire by opening two new restaurants, Ramsay’s Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips, at The ROW in downtown Reno. The restaurants will be located inside Silver Legacy and will mark Ramsay's 16th and 17th restaurants in partnership with Caesars Entertainment. Ramsay’s Kitchen will offer over 260 seats, providing a "sophisticated yet approachable" dining experience, while Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips will accommodate more than 60 seats in a fast-casual setting.
