- Police have identified the 19-year-old man who was fatally shot along the Riverwalk this weekend as Dayton Manning of Reno. Manning's death has been ruled a homicide, though the Reno Police Department has not publically identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Reno Police Department's non-emergency line at 775-334-2677. (Reno Gazette-Journal)
- Washoe County officials have completed a review of the odors being emitted from Swan Lake, declaring the smells "naturally occurring." The county's official investigation found no signs of illegal dumping or contamination, and the report also determined both sewer treatment plants that discharge into the lake are operating as permitted. County officials say they expect the odor to dissipate somewhat as the weather gets colder. (KOLO)
- Home prices in the Reno-Sparks area have dropped for the fourth month in a row amid ongoing interest rate hikes. September saw the median sale price for a single-family home in the region fall to $535,000 — a five percent decrease from the month prior. The conditions may create more opportunities for hopeful homebuyers who have struggled with the strong sellers' market of recent years. (Reno Gazette Journal)
