  1. A 19-year-old from Lodi has been hospitalized after a fraternity party at the University of Nevada in Reno. Witnesses say the teen was taken to the hospital last week after a binge-drinking event held for prospective members of Tau Kappa Epsilon, a fraternity that is not officially recognized by the university. The student involved was a freshman at UNR. (KCRA Sacramento)
  2. The Washoe County Sheriff’s office has completed a multi-month drug investigation into suspects Cami Ward and Lahun Oliver. Ward was arrested on Oct. 13 after detectives located 2.5 pounds of cocaine and a handgun in the vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 80. Oliver was later arrested in nearby Sparks. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Reno Police Department’s K9 units during the investigation. (Press Release Desk)
  3. A new traffic safety zone in downtown Reno is doubling fines for drivers caught speeding. The intersection of First and Sierra streets was officially designated a safety zone on Thursday, bringing the speed limit down to 20 miles per hour. While the new zone spans less than a mile, drivers traveling over the limit can expect a ticket of at least $430. (Reno Gazette Journal)
