  1. A mysterious fire engulfed a pile of vegetation near Reno, generating smoke that spread over the area on Sunday afternoon. Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue swiftly responded to reports of smoke off Alexander Lake Road and discovered a slash pile that was burning for an unknown reason. The fire was extinguished and posed no danger to nearby structures or the surrounding wilderness. (KOLO)

The City of Reno is inviting senior citizens to attend a series of ice cream socials as part of Older Americans Month, aiming to promote social engagement and active lifestyles while providing a fun way to beat the summer heat.
