  1. The City of Reno will host its annual Veteran's Day Parade on Nov. 11, kicking off at 11:11 a.m. Community organizations are invited to participate in the parade, which will have a theme of "Honor" to reflect the region's military values and traditions. Interested groups can sign up to enter the parade until Monday, Oct. 24, at 5:00 p.m. by completing an online application. (KRNV)
  2. Altrusa International of Reno/Sparks hosted its third annual "Socktoberfest" — a sock drive for veterans in need — on Thursday. The organization collected new men's socks for the Katie Grace Foundation, which distributes the socks to vulnerable veteran populations in the Reno and Sparks communities. If you have new socks you were unable to donate Thursday, contact Altrusa International of Reno/Sparks on Facebook to learn how you can still help contribute to those in need. (KOLO)
  3. Construction crews broke ground Thursday on a special training facility for service dogs in South Reno. Liberty Dogs, which will be located at Downtown Damonte, will train and pair service dogs with military veterans in Nevada. The service will be offered at no cost to veterans and include travel to and from the campus during training sessions. (2 News)
