- With funding from the Department of the Interior for the conservation and efficiency programs, more than $2.1 million is headed to the Reno and Las Vegas area for water conservation. The money will be used for the installation of 22 artificial turf fields at Las Vegas high schools as well as upgrades for the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District. Upgrades at the Truckee-Carson Irrigation District will include upgraded turbines to help generate more renewable energy. (KOLO)
- On Monday afternoon, a child was transported to the hospital for precautionary measures after being hit by a car. Around 3 p.m., the child was hit by a vehicle near Neil Road and Peckham Lane; Reno police reported the child was not seriously injured from the crash. As of Tuesday, the incident is still under investigation, and details of the incident remain unclear to the public. (KTVN)
- Reno city employees, from police officers to blue uniformed ambassadors, have been taking daily walks downtown in efforts to take care of the city from picking up trash to checking on the homeless. During these "City Walks," which began in October, homeless individuals can receive daily living supplies or even support in gaining housing or transportation. In addition to these regular checks, the city also does a search for public safety highlights like sidewalk issues, criminal activity, or anything that can negatively affect the community.
