Turkey Trot, Holiday Closures, Pet Photos With Santa and More

What's on tap for Thanksgiving week in Amherst.

Thanksgiving observances. Thanksgiving is Thursday, in observance, the town offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and 29, including the Amherst Transfer Station. The transfer station will be open on Saturday and Sundy. The Amherst Town Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and will be closed on Nov. 28 and 29.  School lets out for Thanksgiving break at the end of the day on Tuesday. Students will have Wednesday-Friday off and return to close on Monday, Dec. 2.

Week meeting schedule. Due to the holiday week, it's a light week for meetings. The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight in Room 202 at Souhegan High School, 412 Boston Post Road. Among agenda items is an update on the Manchester Road Bridge. Get the full agenda on the Amherst Town Website.

Turkey trot. Burn those Thanksgiving calories at the Amherst Junior Women's Club's annual Trot Off Your Turkey 5k and 1-mile fun run on Friday, Nov. 29. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at the town green. 5k option $25 (walk or Run) or One Mile $10 (fun run or walk). Online registration closes on Monday, Nov. 25 – that' today. Fun run starts at 9:30 a.m. 5k at 10. Questions? Email amherstturkeytrot@gmail.com

Food drive ending. The Clark/Wilkins School's food drive for SHARE is coming to an end on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Get any last-minute items in on Monday or Tuesday!

Pet photos with Santa. It's that time of year. Join the Animal Hospital of Nashua/Amherst location 105 Ponemah Road, from noon-4 p.m. Photos are only $10 each and include your choice of holiday background and cardstock frame. Best of all, 100 percent of the money from each photo is donated directly to support pets in our care. Check out our flyer for more information. No appointments are necessary!
