4 Year Old Dies From Injuries After Falling From Third Floor Window

MANCHESTER, NH — A child who fell from a third-floor window at an Elm Street apartment building has died, according to Manchester Police Spokesperson Heather Hamel.

When the original incident occurred, information released indicated the child who fell from the window was 5 years old. However, Manchester police indicate the child was 4 years old.

On Jan. 31, Manchester Fire, police, and AMR ambulance responded to 1436 Elm St. for a report of a child who fell to the ground from a third-story window Tuesday.

Responders arrived at the scene just before 2:30 p.m. and found a boy who was unresponsive with head trauma. CPR was initiated by the responders, and immediately transported to the Elliot Hospital. While en route, the trauma team was activated, and upon arrival, the child was given medical attention. The boy was flown to a Boston hospital. But despite medical treatment, the boy died.

At 3:25 p.m. the same day as the 4-year-old falling from the window, an AMR ambulance was dispatched to meet police at 1436 Elm St. for an infant who appeared to be dehydrated. The child was brought to the ambulance, where responders provided medical care for about 20 minutes before transporting them to the Elliot Hospital.

When the ambulance left the scene, a police cruiser followed the ambulance to the hospital. It is unknown if this is related to the incident earlier in the afternoon.

In May a 3-year-old fell from a 3rd-floor window at 1458, which is just feet away from today’s incident and is in the same block.
