5 Fun NH Weekend Activities, Nov. 2-4

Don't be scared of the good times.

1. Trains! The Bedford Boomers 30th and Final Model Railroad Exhibition is running this Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This will be our 30th and final model railroad exhibition. We will feature running model railroads in scales from HO to G. Live steam rides outdoors, clinics, raffles, food concession. No dealers!

2. Don't miss this! The Tartan Terrors will be performing at the Stockbridge Theatre in Derry Friday night. Taking the Celtic scene by storm, the Tartan Terrors features the best in music, comedy and dance. Bolstered by the blistering piping of a Two Time World Champion Bagpiper, the driving tones of drums from around the world, and a guitar played unlike any you've ever heard. Combine this musical prowess with championship calibre Highland Dancers and intentionally recognized comedic performers and this Celtic Group goes beyond the ordinary.

3. Kick off your Sunday shoes. The Palace Theater in Manchester will present their production of Footloose this weekend and next. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the local laws - including a ban on dancing - which are the brainchild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town's youths. When the Reverend's rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid. With its Oscar'-nominated hit score (the film soundtrack album has sold over 15 million copies world-wide) the celebrated film musical now bursts explosively onto the stage!

5. Baroque is back! The Granite State Symphony Orchestra: Baroque is Back will be playing in Concord Saturday night. Baroque is celebrated tonight with works by the period’s masters. Stacie Lin and Yasmin Myers collaborate on the “Bach Double” violin concerto, considered among JS Bach's best. GSSO concertmaster Elliot Markow brings summer back with Vivaldi’s L’estate from The Four Seasons; and Telemann’s Ouverture des Nations Anciens et Modernes interlaces the intricacy of Baroque with themes from several countries.
