• QCIBT provides participating teams opportunities to improve, gain experience (unionleader.com) — Bedford High’s boys basketball team is heading into the Queen City Invitational as defending Division I champions with a young, deep roster that’s already notched key early-season wins. Coach Frank Moreno plans to use the holiday tournament to test lineups, spread minutes, and see which younger Bulldogs can step into bigger roles against strong programs like Manchester Memorial and Exeter.
   

• Feds given extension to respond to Manchester wastewater permit appeal (unionleader.com) — Wastewater from Bedford ultimately flows to Manchester’s treatment plant, which is at the center of a federal permit appeal over PFAS “forever chemicals” discharged into the Merrimack River. An environmental group argues the EPA failed to set proper limits, and federal officials now have until Jan. 30, 2026 to defend the permit, potentially affecting how regional wastewater is regulated.
   

• As a new session approaches, here are the early childhood education bills in the pipeline (newsfromthestates.com) — New Hampshire lawmakers are gearing up for a busy January with multiple bills that could reshape child care access, funding, and zoning statewide, including for Bedford families. From new tax credits and scholarship expansions to pooled insurance for centers and zoning changes, these proposals aim to ease workforce shortages and improve affordability, while Bedford Sen. Denise Ricciardi is backing a risk-pool plan to lower liability insurance costs.
