5 Things: Last Chance to Change Voter Registration Status
"Five Things You Need to Know Today in Bedford" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. Last Chance to Change Voter Registration Status. The Bedford Supervisors of the Checklist will hold extended hours for those wishing to register to vote and those who are seeking, name, address or party changes prior to the General Election on Nov. 6. The Bedford Town Offices will be open on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, and residents may also register or make changes during normal business hours prior to Oct. 27.
2. Help Perry Farm rebuild this Halloween. Adults and Children welcome. Come meet that was rescued from the fire in September, who will hopefully be dressed in costume (if she cooperates). Please bring any pennies for a collection kettle to help offset the costs of bringing the ponies back to Perry Hill farm within a couple weeks. Plenty of treats for mom and dad and lots of candy for the kids will be available.
3. What is Red Ribbon Week? The National living drug free Red Ribbon Week began Oct. 23 and runs through Oct. 31. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Red Ribbon Week started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. After his death, people started wearing red ribbons to honor Kiki's sacrifice. Today, millions of people celebrate Red Ribbon Week by wearing red ribbons, participating in community anti-drug events, and pledging to live drug-free lives.
