5 Remember the NHL? Sure the players are currently locked out by the owners and there is no sign of an end to the work stoppage in the near future, but looking back, we remember that on this day, in 1989, superstar Wayne Gretzky broke Gordie Howe's points record  of 1,850. According to History.com: Gretzky’s record-setting goal tied the game; in overtime he scored another, and the Kings won 5-4.
