5 Things: Are Bedford Schools Open Today?

Here's what's good in Bedford today.

1. Out like a lion. With spring beginning on Wednesday, March 20 (that's tomorrow) winter has one last blast in store for New Hampshire. Forecasters are calling for 10-16 inches of heavy wet snow today with hazardous road conditions and wind gusts up to 20 mph. NH State Police released this advisory for those who must commute during the storm.

2. Final snow day? The Bedford School District, this morning, posted the following message: Bedford schools are closed due to snow on Tuesday March 19, 2013 ... happy spring!

3. Winter parking ban. Don't forget, through April 1, Bedford has a parking ban on all public highways between midnight and 8 a.m., and at any other time that a motor vehicle may impede snow removal operations. Any person violating the parking ban is subject to a penalty not to exceed $50 for each offense, and any vehicle parked in violation may be authorized to be towed by the Bedford Director of Public Works or by assigned agents and/or independent contractors engaged by the Director of Public Works or Chief of Police. Any vehicles towed will be stored and released to the owner only upon payment of the cost of towing as established by the Town Council. 4. I need your help!!! With some crazy election results and a lot of attention directed toward Windham Patch for information, the Windham Patch Facebook page surged to 926 Facebook 'Likes' last week. Bedford Patch picked up 39 Facebook followers in the last seven days to get to 835, but I'll need your help to catch up to Windham Patch Editor Michael Ryan before he hits 1,000. After all, on the line, thanks to our friendly wager, are dinner and drinks at River Road Tavern or the Common Man. Click here to 'like' Bedford Patch on Facebook, and thank you for your help! - Ryan

5. BHS Prom tickets on sale. According to the Bedford High School website, "The Main Event" prom ticket sales for the BHS prom on May 18 began this week starting at $60. Each week the price increases by intervals of 5. All juniors and seniors may purchase their tickets in Bulldog Corner. For a night full of memories purchase your ticket today!
