John Tremblay, vice president of field services with management company Associa Evergreen Management Group of Bedford, thought he was going to an ugly sweater party, but it was a surprise 60th birthday party. Friends, family and coworkers collected $850, which John donated to "Toys for Tots." Evergreen Management Group branch president Eric Anderson wished John a happy birthday and thanked him "for helping light up the lives of so many kids in need.” (Yahoo Finance)
  2. New Hampshire Safety Commissioner Robert Quinn is accused of misuse of a criminal background check database. Quinn, one of the top law enforcement officials in the state, is accused of having "subordinates improperly access a restricted database for personal reasons," by a former Safety Department employee. "The need for proper access to and use of the information is emphasized and reiterated to new recruits at the Police Academy and during training sessions, police officials said." “You just can’t do it because you’re curious about a guy,” said Bedford Police Chief John Bryfonski, president of the New Hampshire Association of Police Chiefs.   3. The New Hampshire Attorney General joined dozens of attorneys general urging better air travel protections. The attorneys general sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation asking for better "consumer protections for travelers and stiffer penalties for airlines" when they "overbook, cancel flights or delay passengers." NH Attorney General John Formella said, “We’ve recorded a lot of complaints.” George Cruz, of Bedford, who was flying out of the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Tuesday to "beat the crowds” for Christmas, had a good flying day. "As you can tell, it's really nice today,” he said. (WMUR Manchester)
