Bandazian Elected Bedford Town Council Chair
Two-term vice chairman moves into the big seat, and Kelleigh Murphy sworn in.
Chris Bandazian has spent the last two years serving as Bedford Town Council Vice Chairman.
Tuesday night, he was elected chairman, moving into the seat previously filled by Bill Dermody.
Bandazian, who was first elected to the council in 2008 – and then successfully ran for reelection in 2011 – also served last year as council liaison to the Bedford Energy Commission, BCTV, and Merrimack Regional Water District. He was also the council alternate to the Bedford Planning Board and School Board.

Bill Jean, in his second year on the council, takes over as vice chairman.
Tuesday night's annual organizational meeting also saw Kelleigh Murphy sworn in for the first time as a newly elected town councilor, and Jim Scanlon was sworn in for his second consecutive three-year term.

In addition, the council made the following appointments:
Planning Board: Paul Goldberg (Regular, Term expires 2016); Lyn Healy (Alternate, Term expires 2016.
Zoning Board of Adjustment: Sharon Stirling (Regular, Term expires 2016); Terry Radke (Alternate, Term expires 2016); Adrian Thomas (Alternate, Term expires 2014)
Parks & Recreation Commission: Michelle Casale (Regular, Term expires 2016); Dianne Kashiwabara (Alternate, expires 2016)
Historic District Commission: Erin Fisher (Regular, Term expires 2016); Richard Polonsky (Regular, Term expires 2016); John Bostwick (Alternate , Term expires 2015)
Conservation Commission: Ken Peterson (Regular, Term expires 2016); Thomas Sauser (Alternate, Term expires 2016)
Highway Safety Committee: Paul Hannan (Alternate, Term expires 2016)
Water & Sewer Advisory Committee: Bruce Thomas, Term expires 2016
Cemetery Trustees: Elizabeth HoSang (Term expires 2016)
According to Bedford Town Manager Jessie Levine, the town council will revisit its appointments to the BCTV Board of Overseers and Energy Committee at its next meeting, on March 27.
