BEDFORD, NH — The Bedford Knights of Columbus and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church members in Bedford raised more than $12,000 for the New Hampshire Food Bank.

The money was raised during the 2022 Turkey Drive, the annual effort by the church and the council. The effort started more than 15 years ago with members donating a few turkeys to the food bank.

"The Knights of Columbus and St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Bedford are very pleased that we were once again able to provide this donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank,” Michael Pitaro, grand knight of Council 12988, said. “I am extremely proud of the council members and parishioners who donated to this worthy cause.”

According to organizers, during the past 13 years, more than $150,000 has been raised for the food bank.

“The New Hampshire Food Bank is incredibly grateful to the Knights of Columbus Council 12988, St. Elizabeth Seton, Msgr. Quinn, and others for their continued generosity and support,” Eileen Groll Liponis, the executive director of the New Hampshire Food Bank, said.

Liponis said around 7 percent of people in New Hampshire do not know when or where their next meal will come from — including 9.5 percent of children. As inflation and other factors impact New Hampshire residents, the org has “witnessed the need increase.”

Partnerships like this, she added, “were critical in helping us feed our neighbors experiencing hunger.”

Msgr. John Quinn, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton and chaplain of the Bedford Knights of Columbus, said he was pleased the parish, and its parishioners, helped with the worthy cause.
