Bedford Police Catch Man Trying to Cash Stolen Check
Belmont man caught near Manchester border.

A Belmont man who attempted to cash a stolen check in Bedford was apprehended by Bedford Police earlier this week.
Jason MacLeod, 32, was identified by Bedford Lt. Michael Griswold after police received a call alerting them to MacLeod's alleged crime at the Colby Court Hannaford store.
Police pursued him to a Manchester Subaru dealership on Second Street where he was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, falsifying physical evidence and resisting arrest after police spotted him throwing a checkbook underneath a parked vehicle.

The same checkbook was reported stolen earlier in the day from a parked vehicle on Sheridan Street.
According to the Union Leader, the stolen property charge is a felony because MacLeod has past theft convictions. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Nov. 6.
