Bedford is participating in the 35th annual National Night Out with a softball game at Selvoski Field.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford is participating in the 35th annual National Night Out Tuesday. The event, hosted by the Bedford Parks & Recreation Department, is 6 p.m. at Selvoski Field. There will be a softball game between the Bedford Police Department and Bedford Fire Department.

"National Night Out is America’s night out against crime," Bedford police said in a statement. "The annual event is held throughout the United States to promote cooperation between police departments and communities. This event is designed to heighten crime prevention and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police partnerships within the community; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back."

Police departments across New Hampshire, including Concord, Nashua, Salem and Portsmouth, are participating in National Night Out.
