Bedford Residents Trapped in Cellar by Sandy, Five Roads Closed or Blocked
Bedford Police discouraging all unnecessary travel.

As Sandy storms through the northeast her toll is certainly being felt in Bedford and surrounding communities.
As of 11 p.m. Monday nearly 2900 (31 percent) Bedford PSNH customers were without power, and according to an emergency alert obtained by Patch, occupants of a home on Gage Girls Road were trapped in a cellar due to multiple trees falling on or around the house, though there were no reported injuries.
In addition, Bedford public schools are closed Tuesday.

As of 9 p.m. Monday night, the following roads (click here for interactive map of Bedford) were labled either closed or patially blocked by fallen trees, branches and power lines:
- North Amherst Road (Near #64)
- Gage Girls (Between Route 101 and Beals Road)
- New Boston Road (Partially blocked east of Chesterfield)
- County Road (Partially blocked at John Goffe)
- Wallace Road (Partially blocked at Linwood)
Many other streets have large branches and other objects in the roadway, and Bedford Police are asking residents to avoid all unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
