Stop & Shop Offering Up to Half Off Everything in the Store

Bedford residents report long lines, empty shelves.

The Bedford Stop & Shop is looking to clear out its inventory before it closes.

It is one of the six Stop & Shops in New Hampshire that are closing on or before September 21 this year, and the company confirmed to Patch that it is offering 50-percent off nearly everything in the store.

"Yes, today we began an up to 50-percent-off sale across the stores for most products," said Stop & Shop spokeswoman Suzi Robinson in an email to Patch. "The discount rings automatically at the registers."

She offered the following disclaimer:
Savings not offered on all products including on products where prohibited by law. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express accepted. Sale is offered on a first come, first served basis and is limited to products in the store; rain checks do not apply. Coupons will be honored, up to the price of the item.  Stores closing on or before September 21, 2013.  All sales final.

Patch readers are reporting, via our Bedford Patch Facebook page, that the store is stocked with customers looking to cash in on the deal:

Bedford store is crazy, bring a good attitude - Sylvia K. Lopez

All of the store is 50% off, second trip for me today ... Still plenty on the shelves, perishable shelves empty. Did see them restocking freezer items like ice cream ... in line over 20 min just starting to see some movement- Elizabeth Laflower Hoffman

I was in line around 40 mins. Cashier still friendly. :)
There were no carts when I got there - had to improvise and use veggie/meat
bags until I found a discarded hand cart by a register. People are using
laundry baskets, trash baskets, buckets, etc... One person I saw abandoned
his cart - couldn't take the line anymore.  - Jenny D.

I went this morning to Bedford... Manchester had more but lines twice as long... Waited in Manchester line for over an hour but was worth it for us!!! Bring the good attitude!!! - Laura Judge Westcott
