Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. If you're looking for something to do Friday, Dec. 31, here are a few New Year's Eve events in our area: The Bedford Village Inn is offering a four-course prix fixe dinner on New Year's Eve with music and champagne. The Copper Door in Bedford will be serving a special prix fixe dinner menu starting at 4 p.m. (the regular dinner menu will not be available after 4 p.m.) with the last seating at 8 p.m. with live music between 6 to 9 p.m. In Manchester, there is a Great Gatsby Gala New Year's Eve celebration at the DoubleTree Hotel offering a variety of packages, and LaBelle Winery in Derry is having a New Year's Eve Dinner with the Freese Brothers Big Band including a charming stroll through the LaBelle Lights display. 2. A Bedford attorney has had his law license suspended due to the mishandling of client funds. Attorney Robert Fojo has been temporarily suspended from practicing law in New Hampshire for allegedly mishandling nearly $100,000 in client funds, including payments for personal injury claims and a contract dispute. On Dec. 21, the New Hampshire Supreme Court temporarily suspended Fojo’s license. Fojo has been practicing law in New Hampshire since 2010 and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. His license to practice law in Florida was suspended for failing to pay dues. Fojo was involved in several failed legal attempts to undermine mask mandates in school districts across New Hampshire and Massachusetts. (New Hampshire Public Radio)
  3. Is it COVID-19? If you are wondering if your headache, stuffy nose, or sore throat is a cold, the flu, or COVID-19, health experts explain how you can tell the difference. Both COVID-19 and the flu have similar symptoms that can include a fever, fatigue, body aches, sore throat, shortness of breath, and vomiting or diarrhea, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Epidemiologist and former Detroit Health Department executive director Dr. Abdul El-Sayed said COVID-19 is often distinguished by a headache and dry cough. The "loss of taste and smell" has also been the biggest warning sign of a COVID-19 infection, although is less common now than it has been with other variants. El-Sayed said the only way to know if you are infected with COVID-19 is to get tested., and that it "makes sense" that symptoms would be milder if you have been vaccinated."
