Happy Halloween! Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

Today's top stories:

  • Recalled eye drops could cause infections and blindness, federal regulators say.
  • Why some Americans won't 'fall back' in November. Will the clocks turn back an hour in Bedford?
  • Bedford actively hiring plow drivers to clear winter snow in Bedford.

  • Tuesday: Sunny in the morning, clear in the afternoon and evening. High: 46 Low: 32.
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy for the morning, patchy rain possible in the afternoon, clear during the evening, partly cloudy overnight. High: 46 Low: 29.
  • Thursday: Sunny in the morning, clear in the afternoon and evening. High: 49 Low: 28.

Today in Bedford:

  1. An eye drop recall was issued Oct. 25 for CVS, Target and Rite Aid brands, as well as Velocity Pharma and Leader and Rugby, both under Cardinal Health. Federal regulators are warning that the 26 eye drop products selling under those brand names could lead to eye infections and partial vision loss or blindness. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Americans should not use the recalled over-the-counter eye drop products. "Patients who have signs or symptoms of an eye infection after using these products should talk to their health care provider or seek medical care immediately," a recall notice on the FDA's website said. 2. Some Americans won't 'fall back' in November for daylight saving time, but Bedford will join the majority of U.S. states turning the clocks back on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 a.m. We will gain an extra hour of sleep, but not everyone will. Hawaii and Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) do not follow daylight saving time (and neither do the territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Arizona doesn't follow daylight saving time because it's so hot, and Hawaii didn't adopt the change because it's so close to the equator! Find out more here: (USA Today)
  3. Snow will be here soon, and the Town of Bedford is actively hiring snowplow drivers. The Bedford Public Works Department is looking for Seasonal On-Call employee(s) with or without a CDL license for snow and ice removal and other tasks. "If you are an energetic, dependable and conscientious person seeking temporary seasonal work, apply today!" (Town of Bedford)
