Firefighters Work To Extinguish Jeep Fire On I-293 In Bedford
Bedford fire arrived at a Jeep fully engulfed in fire near the Manchester and Bedford line; a significant traffic delay lasted about 1 hour.
BEDFORD, NH — Bedford and Manchester firefighters received reports of a Jeep on fire on Interstate 293 south near the Bedford town line on Wednesday.
Bedford fire arrived at about 9 a.m. to a Jeep fully engulfed in fire and confirmed the occupant had safely got out of the Jeep. Firefighters used water, foam, and extinguishers to knock down the fire. The highway had significant traffic backups as the travel lane and breakdown lane were closed while firefighters worked at the scene.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office worked to direct traffic around the incident. The sheriff’s office is helping to cover the highways today as some members of New Hampshire State Police attend the funeral of a Massachusetts state trooper killed in the line of duty.
