Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Congratulations Bulldogs! The Bedford High School boys basketball team won over Central on Friday by changing their strategy. Bedford High School boys basketball coach Frank Moreno said his team likes to play at a fast pace. With a second-half lead, he changed his strategy and asked them to play at a deliberately slow pace, turning what was a fast back and forth game with The Little Green into a 71-52 NHIAA Division I victory. 2. Ten-year-old Elliot Perry of Bedford participated in the ceremonial puck drop at the Plymouth State University’s men’s hockey game on Dec 10. Perry visited the team’s locker room, sat on the bench during warmups, and left with a signed varsity jersey. This PSU game was also the team's fifth annual Teddy Bear Toss where the cheering crowd tossed over 1,000 stuffed Teddy bears and other stuffed animals onto the ice, where they are collected for pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. “This was our most successful Teddy Bear Toss to date,” said Brad Allen, director of PSU Business Faculty and faculty advisor for the Marketing Association of Plymouth State. 3. With the contagious omicron variant in New Hampshire, health officials say there are a few steps you can take to help keep your family safe during the holidays. If you're fully vaccinated, you can attend family gatherings without a mask, but be cautious and wear masks in public places. Officials also recommend getting tested before and after gatherings with loved ones during the holidays, regardless of your vaccination status, and if you may have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19. They also say to clean commonly touched surfaces. Also, wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer to help prevent spreading the infection. The virus can spread through hands that have the virus on them, so avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Taking a few active steps can help you and your loved ones enjoy the holidays safely.
