MANCHESTER, NH — A Manchester man faces multiple charges after police say he held several people against their will in a Pine Street apartment.

Manchester Police responded to 545 Pine St. for a report that an individual was holding several people inside an apartment against their will on Sunday at about 11 p.m. Officers set up a perimeter around the building and observed a man through a window holding a knife and several women in the apartment.

After investigating, they found that Michael Walsh, 37, had assaulted the woman and made threats of violence against them.

Police eventually took him into custody, and he is facing numerous charges, including two counts of first-degree assault, five counts of kidnapping, five counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, falsifying physical evidence, six counts of simple assault, and resisting arrest.

Walsh was scheduled for arraignment today, where a judge held him on preventive detention.
