Police Investigate Multiple Shootings In Manchester; Man Injured

Investigators work on multiple shootings in the area of Cedar, Auburn, and Chestnut streets on Sunday.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Police responded to multiple shootings on Sunday morning, one that police say critically injured a man.

At about 4:40 a.m., Manchester police responded to the area of Cedar and Chestnut street, for a report of a shooting. Police learned a caller heard gunfire and then saw two males running from the area. Multiple shell casings were located according to police.

Sunday afternoon, as detectives processed the taped-off area in the alley known as Cedar South Back, they had several evidence markers on the ground. Detectives used a ladder to place trajectory rods in the wall of a building, these are usually used to document the direction from which shots were fired.

MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel said while officers initially responded to the Cedar Street shooting, shots were heard at shots coming from behind a Cedar Street apartment building between Union and Pine streets. The MPD dispatch log states the call was dispatched at 6:26 a.m. The location is one block from the initial shooting, and officers were on the scene quickly. Officers found several shell casings, damage to at least one vehicle, and damage to an apartment building.

At 6:50 a.m. the dispatch log indicates a motor vehicle pursuit from Chestnut and Cedar streets, near the first shooting location. No information was given on the pursuit, and it is unknown if it is related to either incident.

Detectives worked Sunday morning and into the early afternoon gathering evidence at the scene and interviewing people in the area.

Hame said a short time later, police were informed that a man came into Elliot Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The male’s status was described as critical but stable.
She said it is believed that these injuries occurred during the first shooting near Chestnut St.

Manchester has had several gunfire-related incidents in recent weeks including a 17-year-old shot near Central High School and a drive-by shooting on Mammoth Road where a duplex and vehicle was struck.

Despite these incidents happening within close proximity to each other, police say they are being investigated separately.
