MANCHESTER, NH — A 19-year-old Manchester man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that took place earlier this month on Wilson Street.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on May 2. A ShotSpotter alert — part of the city’s gunshot detection system — was triggered near 429 Wilson St. Simultaneously, Manchester police dispatch received a 911 call reporting that someone had been shot in the same area.

Responding officers arrived on the scene and found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police immediately administered life-saving measures before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

According to a witness, she and the victim had been outside when they overheard a heated argument between a man and a woman. After asking the pair to quiet down, the male suspect reportedly began shouting profanities. When the victim intervened, the suspect pulled out a firearm and opened fire at close range. The witness told authorities that neither she nor the victim knew the shooter.

Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Ayden Bonella, 19, of Manchester.
