MANCHESTER, NH — Tyrese Harris, 22, the Manchester man accused of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Dzemal Cardakovic on South Willow Street Saturday, was arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court North Monday.

Harris was accused of shooting Cardakovic, a truck driver, in the head after what witnesses described as a road rage incident. Witnesses said, after the shooting, Harris and a woman fled the scene in a 2015 blue Honda CR-V. He was taken into custody Saturday by police, and the New Hampshire Attorney General announced charges, including two counts of second-degree murder.

A person on social media, who said she witnessed the incident, wrote the truck driver and Harris got out of their vehicles on South Willow Street near the entrance to the Mall of New Hampshire. The witness said there was a verbal altercation, and the truck driver spit at Harris. Harris then fired a gun, killing the truck driver, she wrote.

Another person on social media said he was in traffic and thought there was an accident. He went to render medical aid, grabbed medical supplies, and when he arrived at where Cardakovic was shot, found him deceased.

A broadcast over a neighboring town’s police dispatch indicated police were looking for Tyrese Harris, and he was considered armed and dangerous. The alerts indicated a witness had followed him to Brown Avenue, where he was last seen fleeing in the CR-V.

Harris waived arraignment on Monday in Hillsborough County Court and did not appear in the courtroom. Prosecutors and defense agreed he would be held on preventative detention at this time and may ask for an evidentiary hearing in the future. Harris is charged with two counts of second-degree murder for (1) knowingly causing the death of Dzemal Cardakovic, age 45, by shooting him with a firearm; and alternatively, for (2) recklessly causing the death of Cardakovic under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, to wit, Harris shot Cardakovic with a firearm.

An affidavit, describing the details of the shooting, was ordered sealed in court.

It was learned in court Harris went to the Bodwell Rd address and left in a black Kia owned by his girlfriend. Undercover officers followed the vehicle and eventually stopped it, and took Harris into custody. During a search, it was discovered Harris had cocaine in a small plastic bag and was arrested.

Later, the attorney general and Manchester police announced he was being charged with second-degree murder.

The complaints available only specified the charges of second-degree murder. They listed Harris as 5’ 6” and 147 pounds, living on Bodwell Road in Manchester.
