Pickup Truck Crash Brings Down Poles And Power Lines In Manchester

Valley Street was closed after a Raymond man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash. Crews worked throughout the day on repairs.

MANCHESTER, NH —‚ A single vehicle took down several utility poles and power lines closing a busy Manchester street on Thursday.

A small pickup truck struck utility poles on Valley Street near Lincoln Street at about 5:30 a.m. The falling utility poles pulled down additional power lines up the street causing transformers to crash to the ground.

The intersection is located just outside the Manchester police headquarters and the public works department.

Manchester Fire, police, and AMR ambulance all responded to the scene and safely removed the seriously injured man from the truck. The man was transported from the scene by AMR ambulance with what police describe as serious injuries. Manchester police said the driver was a 40-year-old man from Raymond but did not provide his name.

Valley Street was closed between Maple Street and Wilson Street for the day while crews from Eversource, Consolidate Communications, and Xfinity made repairs. Clean Harbors was called to the scene to remove the damaged and leaking transformers.
