Monday Essentials: What's Up in Bedford this Week?

Here are five things you should know in Bedford this week.

1. Little Leaguers battle on. The Bedford 9- and 10-year-old Little League all-stars are currently in Rhode Island battling in the Eastern Regionals against some of the top teams from New England. Bedford Patch is following the team from a distance and will provide updates throughout the week.

2. The weatherman says ... Another gorgeous week of weather begins today, with Weather.com calling for abundant sunshine, a high of 75 degrees and a 0-percent chance of rain. Tonight's low is 54 degrees. The forecasted high for each day this week is in the high 70s, with little precipitation on the horizon. Click here for a more detailed look at the forecast for the next five days.

3. All Politics is Local: This week will see several big-name political figures visiting New Hampshire. Today, U.S. Rep. Peter King (R-NY), a possible presidential candidate in 2016, is in the Granite State. And tomorrow, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will attend an NHGOP fundraiser in Wolfeboro, where he owns a summer home. On Friday, former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) is scheduled to attend an event in Salem. Brown, of course, has been talked about as a possible Senate candidate in New Hampshire, given that he owns a summer home on the Seacoast.

4. Don't forget the Dems. Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will also visit the Granite State this week. She's schedule to be in Concord on Thursday.

5. That's a wrap! The Bedford Public Library's summer reading program wraps up this week with a Finale Party with Wayne from Maine and Jimmy James, the Koonga Boonga Man from 1:30-2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Bedford Village Common Gazebo.
