Motorcycle Accident Closes North Amherst Road

Tree downs power lines, knocks riders from motorcycle.

A tree that snapped in half  knocked power lines onto North Amherst Road Saturday night and those wires apparently caught a motorcyclist and his passenger, pulling them both off the bike.

No other information on the accident was immediately provided by Bedford Police and the extent of the injuries of those involved is unknown at this time.

Robert Wolfe, a Bedford Patch Facebook follower, said he was one of the first on the scene. He described the incident as follows:

A tree branch fell, knocking power and telephone lines across the road suspended 5 - 6 feet. Evidently a motorcycle was the first through and the telephone line clotheslined the driver knocking both him and his female passenger off the bike. Both were, fortunately, coherent and responsive. Both motorcyclists apparently had their helmets on which didn't help being yanked from the bike, but likely saved them from further injury being thrown to the ground.

Bedford Patch will update this article with details if and when more information is made available.
