New Hampshire Attorney General Investigating Manchester Officer Involved Shooting

State Police Major Crime investigators are at the Fairfield Inn on South Porter Street Saturday, where a shooting seriously injured a man.

MANCHESTER, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit are investigating an officer-involved shooting at the Fairfield Inn on South Porter Street in Manchester on Saturday.

The Manchester Fire Department was dispatched to the hotel at about 4:45 p.m. for a fire alarm activation. Firefighters were advised to wait for Manchester police to secure the scene. Once the scene was secure, the fire sprinkler on the fourth floor was activated, and water flowed to the lower levels.

A request was made for an AMR ambulance to respond to a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The person was treated and transported from the scene.

Firefighters shut the water off to the sprinkler system and assisted in mitigating the water damage.

On Saturday afternoon, the hotel displayed a sign at the entrance stating it was closed; however, guests were still entering and exiting the hotel. One worker at the hotel indicated that the water was shut off.

Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the Attorney General’s Office, said their office was responding to a report of an officer-involved shooting at the hotel.

The incident involved an adult male subject inside a hotel room on South Porter Street, according to Garrity. The subject has been transported to an area hospital, and there is no known threat to the public at this time.

The Manchester Police call log indicates the original dispatch was for an unwanted person at the hotel. It is unclear how the incident began and how many officers were involved.

State Police Major Crime arrived early evening and could be seen bringing crime scene processing equipment into the hotel.

Patch sources indicate the man was seriously injured and appeared to have life-threatening injuries.

As additional information becomes available, Patch will update the original post.
