NH Couple 'Terrorized' Adopted Daughter In Basement: Police
NH police in New Boston said Denise and Thomas Atkocaitis were arrested after confining their 15-year-old adopted daughter for weeks.

NEW BOSTON, NH -- A New Hampshire couple were accused of "terrorizing" their 15-year-old adopted daughter by confining her in their basement for weeks, police announced Monday. Denise Atkocaitis, 55, and her husband, Thomas, 57, were arrested Thursday and charged with a host of crimes. The couple reportedly held the girl captive in the basement for weeks, according to police.
The arrests were the result of a month-long investigation, police said, adding the couple confined the girl to the basement "with the purpose to terrorize."
The couple were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, kidnapping and criminal restraint. They were released on bond pending an arraignment November 1 in Hillsborough County Superior Court.
