One Person Dead From An Apparent Gunshot Wound Outside Pharmacy

Police detectives are processing the scene outside of the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Elm Street in Manchester; AG calls the death suspicious.

MANCHESTER, NH — One man is dead, from an apparent gunshot wound outside of a Manchester Rite Aid on Elm Street on Tuesday.

Police, firefighters, and EMS responded to a reported shooting just before 11 p.m. in the parking lot of the business at 1631 Elm St. Manchester firefighters and AMR medics rendered medical aid to a man and rushed him to the Elliot Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The NH Attorney General’s Office and Manchester police said that they were investigating the incident and all involved had been identified. There is no danger to the public, officials said.

A press release from the AG and police referred to the situation as a suspicious death investigation and all aspects of the incident would be investigated — including the possibility of self-defense.

On Wednesday, the parking lot of the business was closed with yellow crime scene tape while Manchester detectives continued to process the scene. Several customers and employees arrived and were turned away. They were told to come back in a few hours.

Several evidence markers were spread across a large area of the parking lot and a pile of personal belongings was piled where it appears the man was treated.

Authorities only released that it was a man but did not release an age or name.
