One Year Later: Remembering Snowtober
Today is the one-year anniversary of the unexpected snowstorm that blanketed New Hampshire and cut off power to thousands.
While all eyes today are on Hurricane Sandy and the impact she may have on the northeast, it's easy to forget that on this day, in 2011, southern New Hampshire was decimated by an unexpected fall snowstorm.
In fact, as it turned out, there was more snow on the ground in Bedford on Halloween than Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day combined.
The National Weather Service reported 20.8 inches of snow accumulated in Bedford when a massive snowstorm buried the region on Oct. 29 and 30.

Mother Nature's unexpected trick resulted in up to 88 percent of Bedford losing power, dozens of roads being closed (and many more obstructed), three days of lost school time and, of course, Trick or Treating being postponed a week.
The storm also resulted in the state taking a hard look at the reaction and practices of PSNH and other electrical service providers.
