Papa Gino's Closes 3 New Hampshire Restaurants, D'Angelo Shop

Pizza chain Papa Gino's closed about 50 restaurants and D'Angelo shops across New England, including at least four in New Hampshire.

MANCHESTER, NH -- Pizza chain Papa Gino's, a New England institution since the 1960s, on Sunday closed about 50 restaurants -- including three in New Hampshire. The affected Granite State restaurants are in Manchester, Nashua and Portsmouth. A recorded telephone message at all three locations said, "This restaurant is now permanently closed."

The closures left Papa Gino's with 12 locations in New Hampshire: Concord, Derry, Dover, Gilford, Hudson, Londonderry, Manchester, Merrimack, Plaistow, Rochester, Salem and Seabrook. Eighty-five other Papa Gino's restaurants across New England also remained open.

Dedham, Massachusetts-based Papa Gino's was founded in 1961 and grew to more than 100 restaurants across New England. The company also owns the D'Angelo sandwich chain and some of those restaurants also closed Sunday -- including the Nashua D'Angelo. That left D'Angelo with locations in Concord (two), Manchester (two), Portsmouth, Keene and Laconia.
