Police Taser Bedford Woman
Driver, reportedly attempting to flee accident scene, allegedly struck officer with her vehicle before resisting arrest.

Manchester Police reportedly were forced to taser a Bedford woman after she allegedly attempted to flee the scene of an accident near Fisher Cats Stadium.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday, after 55-year-old Maria Bryant of Bedford reportedly struck a light pole in front of the Hilton Garden Inn at 101 Commercial Street with her Ford Focus.
According to a Manchester Police press release, Officer Warren Olson observed Bryant was still seated in the vehicle when he arrived. The car was "hung up on the cement base to the pole."

When Olson attempted to engage Bryant, she reportedly began trying to accelerate the vehicle and revving the engine, despite repeated warnings and attempts by Olson to stop her.
As Olson smashed the rear passenger door to gain access to the vehicle, Bryant dislodged the car from the pole and began backing away, reportedly striking Olson's arm.

Bryant then allegedly drove into the hotel parking lot, which she circled until her path was blocked by Officer Kelly McKenney and her cruiser.
Olson again attempted to gain access to the Focus through the rear passenger door and deployed his taser at Bryant.
Officer Jamie Branch was able to enter the car on the driver's side and, with the assistance of other officers at the scene, managed to pull Bryant out of the vehicle and restrain her after a brief struggle.
Bryant was arrested and charged with conduct after an accident; disobeying a police officer and resisting arrest. She was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox. Sign up for free Patch newsletters and alerts.
