Manchester Murder Suspect Was Out On PR Bail Accused Of Attempted Stabbing In July

Raymond Moore, a homeless man from Mississippi arrested Friday on murder charges, was accused of attempting to stab a man on Elm Street.

MANCHESTER, NH — Raymond Moore, a homeless man accused of stabbing a 75-year-old man to death on a Manchester rail trail on Friday, was out on personal recognizance bail from two recent arrests — including an attempted stabbing in Manchester on July 10.

Moore was taken arrested at the Walmart in Manchester after witnesses accused him of stabbing a 75-year-old man to death. Moore walked down the rail trail to Gold Street with a blue coronavirus face-covering mask, in tan shorts, and covered in blood.

The victim was given medical attention by Manchester firefighters and AMR medics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

In July, Moore is accused of an assault at Stanton Park outside of 700 Elm St., a popular gathering spot for homeless people. According to court paperwork, the assault began at Stanton Park, continued into Veteran’s Park, and police were called to 100 Merrimack St. for a man yelling at another.

When police arrived, they found Moore more and accused him of yelling “I am going to f***ng kill you,” to another person across the street. As police investigated, the affidavit stated Moore was accused of attempting to stab the victim in the stomach. When questioned further, Moore indicated he could not describe the area because he had only arrived in Manchester 10 days prior.

Moore was arrested and charged with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threatening, and falsifying evidence. He appeared in court on July 11, for an arraignment and bail hearing.

Moore was released on personal recognizance bail and ordered not to make contact or be within 300 feet of the victim. His address was listed as homeless but the judge ordered him not to leave New Hampshire and he was made to sign an extradition waiver as part of the bail terms.

The elderly man killed on Friday has not been publicly identified at this time.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for Saturday, and the manner and cause of death will be released by the authorities. At this time, it appears Moore and the victim did not know each other, and the victim was walking on the rail trail.

Moore is currently being held on preventative detention and will be arraigned on Monday when a decision on bail will be made.
