SWAT Negotiators Successfully Get Man To Surrender After Several Hours
Tyler Campbell, 30, was accused of threatening neighbors and police with a firearm and refused to come out of a Myrtle Street home.
MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police responded to 381 Myrtle St. on Thursday for a report of a man with a gun who was screaming and pointing the gun at someone.
Police said, Tyler Cambell, 30, of Manchester allegedly was yelling and screaming, and when confronted, witnesses said he pointed the gun in their direction. He then went into the building and remained inside when police arrived at the scene.
Arriving officers could see and hear a male yelling in a second-floor apartment at about 4:30 p.m. Given the severe nature of the incident, a perimeter was set up and a negotiator attempted to make contact with the individual. As a precaution, officers asked residents of neighboring buildings to shelter in place and the SWAT team was deployed, according to MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel.

Negotiators could be heard speaking over a loudspeaker for several hours asking Campbell to come out and end the incident peacefully. Negotiators shared that Campbell's mother was concerned, and he should come out before anyone was hurt. Campbell ignored the officer’s commands to leave the building and threatened the police while on the phone with the negotiator.
Shortly before 7 p.m., Campbell walked outside and was taken into custody by SWAT. During a search of the residence, police found multiple firearms.
