TD Bank Robbed In Manchester; Suspect Arrested Moments After Robbery

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A 44-year-old man is in custody facing felony charges after allegedly robbing a downtown bank Thursday morning.

The incident ended with police apprehending the suspect just minutes after he fled the scene. Manchester police responded to the TD Bank located at 300 Franklin St. shortly before 9 a.m., following reports of a robbery in progress. According to arriving officers, a man entered the branch and demanded cash from a teller. Police report that while the suspect did not display a weapon, the situation was tense.

The teller complied with the demand, handing over an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the bank on foot. A description of the suspect was immediately broadcast via police radio.

Moments later, patrol officers spotted a man matching the description exiting Bunny’s Convenience Store at 947 Elm St., a short distance from the bank.

The suspect, identified as Michael Cote, 44, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident. Upon arrest, officers discovered an envelope containing a large sum of money in his sweatshirt pocket.

Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr said:

“I’d like to thank the bank employees for doing everything right in an extremely stressful situation,” Chief Marr said. “Their quick actions allowed our officers to respond quickly and apprehend the suspect within a few short minutes. Our officers' quick response led to an almost immediate arrest of a bank robber. Manchester Police Officers are committed to this city and making it a safer place for everyone.”
