Two People Safely Escape Vehicle That Bursts Into Flames In Manchester
A Jeep burned on Elm Street as bystanders watched and waited for firefighters. Smoke could be seen for miles, and Elm St. was closed down.
MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire and police responded to a vehicle fire at the corner of Elm Street and Auburn St on Saturday.
Several units that normally would have responded from downtown were tied up on other calls throughout the city, requiring Engine 3 to respond from the furthest southern part of the city.
Manchester Police closed off Elm Street and awaited the arrival of Manchester Fire. Engine 9 from the westside was returning from another call, spotted the smoke, and added themselves to the call to assist engine 3.

Firefighters stretched hose lines, and established a water supply from a nearby hydrant, and extinguished the fire.
Manchester Police detectives responded to the scene to investigate, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. It is unknown the cause of the fire at this time but appears to be a mechanical or electrical failure in the vehicle.
